Wet Felting at Craft Club
Claire Hoey 19/01/11
We had our second week of felting at our Craft Club here in Bamford this week. The children are loving it. They made their second piece of felt and the felted rope to hang the bunting along that they will be making next week out of the felt they have made. The children spent a lot more time on the actual design for this piece than last week, I think mainly because they had mastered the technique last week and were now concentrating on how it would look. The colour choices were truly wonderful. There will be some photographs going up in our album soon of this weeks work in progress and hopefully next week there will be photographs of the finished pieces. Then we will have the next group of children to work on their felted bunting. The soap we used is olive oil based with lavender mixed in so the classroom smelt beautiful and as I am sure I mentioned last week the tables have never been so clean! It is a great craft to do with the children as they just love the feel and the colours that they get to handle. It is also quite physical so they go home tired out! The knitting club is still going strong - I thought the pull of the first day of sunshine in sometime might entice them all outside but we only lost two to the playground and who can blame them - we don't get much at this time of year. The childrens knitting is coming on a treat and we are already discussing what patterns the children would like to work towards and the more advanced of our knitters are going to be starting on more complicated patterns.
